I thought I’d start the new year off with a couple of early sneak peeks from my last 2 sessions of 2008. Both were very special sessions for me and I’m excited to start going through all of the clients’ images, but for now, here is a quick one from each to ring in the new year!
I pray that 2009 is a wonderful year for you and your family. I am excited to see what God has in store for Karen Baker Photography in the New Year, whatever it may be! Stay tuned for changes coming in the next month including a new website and blog design!
Also, some friends created a Karen Baker Photography group on Facebook for me… so if you are on FB, make sure to stop by! My plan is to post sneak peeks, news & specials on there, as well!
Thanks to everyone – my family & friends especially – for their love and support in 2008… and here’s to a wonderful 2009!
More sneak peeks to come soon from these sessions…
Although I am in the midst of editing sessions from the last week, I had to take a break to work up some samples of more Christmas card designs to showcase. I recently purchased some beautiful card templates from one of my favorite and most inspiring fellow photographers, Nichole Van. These templates can be used for Christmas cards, birth announcements and pretty much anything else your imagination desires! They can be customized with your choice of font, color and text to create a truly unique and personalized design. All cards are printed on 5×7 flat card stock, in either semi-gloss (matte finish) or semi-gloss with UV coating (shinier finish). There are 25 cards per box with prices starting at $30 per box (white envelopes included).
I am so excited to be able to offer these to my clients for their Christmas cards this year and for birth announcements in the future. Here are several examples of how they can be used for Christmas cards… please contact me to see the full range of templates.
I am excited to be able to offer clients customized options for their Christmas cards this year. The first set of designs are by Eva Talley Creative, and can be customized with different colors, text, font, and of course your family’s choice of photo from your holiday session! These card designs are printed on 5×7 flat card stock, in either semi-gloss (matte finish) or semi-gloss with UV coating (shinier finish). There are 25 cards per box with prices starting at $30 per box (white envelopes included). Contact me for more details.
I have all 6 designs posted in the greeting cards gallery on my website, but wanted to post a few watermarked versions here, as well!
I truly believe that God places people in our lives at certain times for certain reasons. This has definitely been true in the last year as I have been working harder at making my dream of being a professional photographer a reality. Heather and I met over a year ago through a website that we both utilize for displaying our work and seeing other photographers’ work, all as a way to help us grow and become better photographers. I refer to her as my “photography friend”… she has been an invaluable source of information, advice and feedback. Her business, HD Portraits, has grown immensely in the last year and I have been so excited to watch it grow and learn from her. How wonderful to have someone going through the same scary and exciting experiences at the same time, to talk to and bounce ideas off of?
Heather and her husband were blessed with a beautiful baby girl this past June. Baby Kate joined the family shortly after her big sister, Meg, turned two. They are the sweetest family and I was so excited when Heather allowed me to visit them shortly after Kate’s birth to photograph the new family of four.
I do all of my work “on location”, meaning that I will come to the client’s home or chosen location to shoot the session. This often means outdoor sessions for my work, which I truly enjoy. However, there are also times that call for indoor sessions and I always come prepared with my travel backdrops for those situations. We used the backdrops for my “mini-session” with Heather and her family this past summer and I wanted to showcase a few of those images to give clients an idea of how this works with natural lighting. It is always best when there is plenty of window lighting in the room, so we always try to pick the room with the best light in the house to set up the backdrop. I loved how these turned out.
If you’re anything like me, giving and receiving Christmas cards is one of your favorite traditions of the season! It may be hard to start thinking about your family’s Christmas card when it’s still in the 90’s outside, but this is the perfect time to book your fall session! I am excited to be offering custom Christmas card designs this year, as well… more to come on the different design options! September and October are the best months for fall sessions, so now is the time to book them… visit my website for pricing and contact information.
Storyboards are a great way to display some of your favorite images from your session. I have recently started creating them for clients and they are quickly becoming a popular item. They come in several different sizes, the most popular one being 10×20, and can also be mounted (recommended) to help protect the print. Check out the new storyboards gallery on my website to see a few examples of recent storyboard creations…
