I had the pleasure of meeting and working with the Kirkley family this past weekend.  It was such a dreary Sunday afternoon, weather-wise, but I am so glad we kept our appointment because this sweet newborn made my day!  Besides, baby Josie was born in early February, so I didn’t want to let another week pass by before capturing all her “newness”!

She was the perfect 4-week old… we were able to get the wide-awake shots & sleepy shots… she even shared a few smiles with me… I couldn’t have asked for more!

Thank you, Jason & Lauren, for welcoming me into your home and allowing me to spend some time photographing your sweet family.  Here are a few of my favorites so far from our session… hope you’ll enjoy!

and last but certainly not least… I had to leave a spot on the blog sneak peeks for Josie’s canine brother “Billy”… isn’t he the sweetest?  He definitely needed to be included in some of our shots, too, don’t you think?!

carson February 23, 2009

I’m pretty sure Baby Gap is going to be calling Carson’s parents any day now… could he be any cuter?  Halfway through our session this past Saturday, I seriously considered putting him in my car & driving away as fast as I could… I think I could stare at this sweet smile for hours!

When a photographer talks about a dream subject… this is it.  Carson is 7 months old and just about every time you look at him he breaks into the sweetest smile… and those beautiful blue eyes… what more could I ask for?

I have truly enjoyed going through all of the images from my session with Carson and his parents… the hardest part has been trying to decide which ones to use for their final images.

Thank you, Robinson family, for sharing your little guy with me this past weekend!  Here are a few of my favorites so far from our time together… hope you enjoy!

lilly & bear February 3, 2009

Lilly & Bear… sounds like the title to a really cute children’s book, doesn’t it?  Actually, it’s names of the sweet siblings from my latest session.  I met up with Lilly, Bear and their parents Josh & Vanessa last weekend for a family session by the covered bridge in Euharlee

I have known Lilly & Bear’s dad since we were babies ourselves… and to have the opportunity to meet his beautiful family and photograph them was a huge honor for me.  I have had so much fun going through their session and spending so much time staring at these sweet faces all week.  I hope you guys will enjoy!

I recently met up with members of the Glenn and Gilmer families at Barrington Hall in downtown Roswell and had the honor of photographing 4 generations!  Little ones Glenn Elizabeth & Ren, who I “worked with” previously in the fall, joined their mother, aunt, grandmother & great-grandmother, for a special session.

Each one just as warm, sweet and beautiful as the next… I’ve truly enjoyed going through this session!  You can see how much they all treasure each other and what special relationships each one has with the other – what a blessing!

Here are a few of my favorites so far… Lindsey, thank you once again for trusting me with these special pictures – I hope you and your entire family will enjoy!

I thought I’d start the new year off with a couple of early sneak peeks from my last 2 sessions of 2008.  Both were very special sessions for me and I’m excited to start going through all of the clients’ images, but for now, here is a quick one from each to ring in the new year!

I pray that 2009 is a wonderful year for you and your family.  I am excited to see what God has in store for Karen Baker Photography in the New Year, whatever it may be!  Stay tuned for changes coming in the next month including a new website and blog design!

Also, some friends created a Karen Baker Photography group on Facebook for me… so if you are on FB, make sure to stop by!  My plan is to post sneak peeks, news & specials on there, as well!

Thanks to everyone – my family & friends especially – for their love and support in 2008… and here’s to a wonderful 2009!

bittersweet December 27, 2008

Another Christmas has come & gone (far too quickly!)… presents unwrapped, decorations taken down, new toys have found their new homes… and now we prepare to begin a new year.  This will be a year of new adventures, new challenges and for my family, a few changes…

We will soon be losing some very dear friends as they move back closer to home and pursue new opportunities for their family elsewhere.  We’ve only known Josh, Mindy and Lane for a short time, but in the last year they have become a very important part of our lives.

Mindy began watching our little boy when I returned to my HR job for 2 days a week last February.  She and her husband Josh had their little boy, Lane, just 6 days after Luke was born, so he had a built-in playmate from day one.  The boys have become such great buddies - there is nothing sweeter than the reactions that they have when they see each other – such happiness.  So, not only will we be losing such an incredible caregiver for our son, but we’ll be losing dear friends as well…

I’ve had the privilege of photographing Lane throughout his first year, so we had to get in one last session before they head West.  This was a bittersweet session for me – as always, I adore photographing for this family, but knowing it would be my last chance for a while made it difficult.

I hope I was able to create some special memories for you guys… thank you for your great care and love for our son and especially for your friendship over the past year…

we finally meet… December 14, 2008

My session with 4-month old Corey had to be rescheduled twice… so I was excited that we were finally able to meet this past weekend!  Corey was such a sweet little man… already full of smiles in just 4 months!  I just love those baby smiles… is there anything better??

Of course it was easy to see why Corey is such a happy baby… he has 2 of the nicest parents who clearly adore him.  I had such a fun time hanging out with all 3 of them for our session!  I’m so glad we were finally able to make it happen!

Hope you guys will enjoy the sneak peeks for now!

beautiful black & whites November 26, 2008

I thought I’d fit in one last post before we head off to enjoy some turkey and all the fixins’ with family… and I was excited to get working on this session I had last weekend with the beautiful Scoggins family.

Matt, Louise & Hunter braved the morning cold with me for a family session in Canton.  We met up at a park and let Hunter run around picking up rocks and sticks… what more could a little guy ask for?  Mom was especially interested in the black and whites and having the family dressed in black is the way to go… I love how they’re turning out so far.

Here’s wishing you and yours a very happy Turkey Day… one where we can all sit back, enjoy some good food and take time to appreciate all of our many blessings…

siblings November 14, 2008

Pictures have always been important to me – even before I seriously stepped into photography – because I see them as a way to seal that particular moment in time.  My session last Saturday got me thinking about how much I need to get my sisters & brother together for a session.  It seems like when you’re younger, sibling photo opportunities happen all the time… but as we get older, we let too many years go by without having our picture made together.

I think Hunter & Paige’s mom will be very happy to have the images from our session last weekend.  As brother and sister, I am sure they had their picture taken together countless times when they were younger… but now as they are both in college and leading busy lives, it’s still important to take the time to remember these moments as they, too, pass by so quickly!

Here are a few of my favorites so far from our session.  These were shot on the beautiful grounds of the Roselawn Museum in Cartersville, Georgia…

I had a great session last week with the Collier family… Rob, Coco & their precious little girl Xadie.  We live in the same neighborhood and Coco and I originally met at our neighborhood ladies’ Bible Study.  Xadie was just a baby when we first met and now here she is running all over the place like such a big girl!  We shot our session on the walking trails and creek in our subdivision and it turned out be a beautiful location!  I can’t believe I’ve lived here for 3 years and this was the first time I had done pictures out there!  I will definitely have to use this location again in the future!

We had a great time watching Xadie run around & play… here are some of my favorites so far from our session.  Hope you guys will enjoy!
