Last Monday, Luke & I met up with my mom, one of my sisters and her 2 kids for a visit to the Tellus Museum in Cartersville. My nephew Sam’s favorite thing in the world is dinosaurs, so this was a special day for him. I thought Luke might enjoy seeing all the new museum had to offer, as well, or at the very least just people watching!
We were very impressed with the Tellus. It was built over what was originally the Weinman Mineral Museum, which I hadn’t been to since a field trip visit in 8th grade… so there was much to see! It is a beautiful museum and something to be proud of for our area… I’m definitely looking forward to some trips in the future once Luke is truly able to appreciate all of it. His favorite thing this time was the large statue of a dog, go figure!
For now, it will be Sam’s place… I think he could’ve stayed in the ”fossil digging room” for hours. It was an entire room filled with fake sand and fossils, with excavating tools everywhere – a 6 year old boy’s dream come true!
Many of the rooms inside the museum were dark, so most of my shots just turned out as cute snapshots for our family… but I did especially like the last picture I took that day… Sam was checking out the huge light up periodic table in the mineral room. It really was neat… maybe if we had one of these in my high school science classroom, I might’ve enjoyed learning the periodic table of elements a little more!
