Another Christmas has come & gone (far too quickly!)… presents unwrapped, decorations taken down, new toys have found their new homes… and now we prepare to begin a new year.  This will be a year of new adventures, new challenges and for my family, a few changes…

We will soon be losing some very dear friends as they move back closer to home and pursue new opportunities for their family elsewhere.  We’ve only known Josh, Mindy and Lane for a short time, but in the last year they have become a very important part of our lives.

Mindy began watching our little boy when I returned to my HR job for 2 days a week last February.  She and her husband Josh had their little boy, Lane, just 6 days after Luke was born, so he had a built-in playmate from day one.  The boys have become such great buddies - there is nothing sweeter than the reactions that they have when they see each other – such happiness.  So, not only will we be losing such an incredible caregiver for our son, but we’ll be losing dear friends as well…

I’ve had the privilege of photographing Lane throughout his first year, so we had to get in one last session before they head West.  This was a bittersweet session for me – as always, I adore photographing for this family, but knowing it would be my last chance for a while made it difficult.

I hope I was able to create some special memories for you guys… thank you for your great care and love for our son and especially for your friendship over the past year…

My session with 4-month old Corey had to be rescheduled twice… so I was excited that we were finally able to meet this past weekend!  Corey was such a sweet little man… already full of smiles in just 4 months!  I just love those baby smiles… is there anything better??

Of course it was easy to see why Corey is such a happy baby… he has 2 of the nicest parents who clearly adore him.  I had such a fun time hanging out with all 3 of them for our session!  I’m so glad we were finally able to make it happen!

Hope you guys will enjoy the sneak peeks for now!

I recently shot a session with 10-month old Connor… and I think I am in love.  In fact, I fall more & more in love with this little guy, with every picture I edit.

Connor’s mom & I went to school together… Metta remains one of the sweetest, most genuine-hearted people I will ever know… so I don’t know why I expected anything less but pure sweetness from her child!

It was a cold afternoon out at The Covered Bridge in Euharlee… but Connor was so easy with the smiles that I was able to get a bunch of great shots pretty quickly & without us all freezing to death!

Here are some of my favorites so far…

an unexpected week off… December 3, 2008

we’re always thankful for rain here in the south – especially since we’ve been without it so much in the past couple of years… but I was disappointed that the rain & cold kept my sessions from happening last weekend.  After a couple of reschedules, all is well and now I’m looking forward to the weekend coming up!  It’s going to be a busy one… but I’m excited to have a chance to work with all of my new clients in the coming days!

Of course you’d think I’d take the week off from editing as my opportunity to step away from the computer and give it a little break… but I just can’t leave well enough alone!  I’m using my time off from working on client sessions to work on Luke’s one year pictures!  Working on my own child’s pictures… what a novel concept!

I’ve even had some fun working on storyboards with his pictures.  Storyboards are popular these days as a fun & creative way to showcase some of your favorite images from a session.  Maybe this one will eventually find its place on one of the walls in our home…
